Find relief from distress in a shorter, and focused amount of time so that you can experience lasting change.

EMDR Intensive Therapy is a way to move toward relief and recovery from distressing symptoms of trauma and anxiety more quickly. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) has been widely recognized as an effective psychotherapy treatment to help process negative feelings and change the way we think about ourselves and our memories. Because of the powerful healing effect of EMDR therapy, Intensives can produce faster results than weekly sessions using standard talk-therapy techniques.

What are the benefits of an EMDR Intensive?

  • Process more information in a shorter amount of time: Dedicate 1-3 days to focus on healing, growth, and connection.

  • Cost effective: Intensives are highly concentrated and highly focused, sometimes requiring less time and overall cost to the client.

  • No more weekly appointments: Stop scheduling your weeks around therapy sessions.

  • Make lasting change: Take care of your mind and body.

  • Intensives are held virtually or in-person (Portland, Oregon) and take place over the course of 1-3 days.

Typically we start at 9:00am and finish at 12:30pm. We’ll take a break half-way through and as needed. But since this is a customized approach we can flexibly create a format that works best for you.

  • You and I will determine this together during your intake session. This depends on the situation you want to focus on and your goals. I typically recommend scheduling 3 consecutive days for the Intensive lasting 3 hours each day. I encourage you to leave the remainder of your day free and flexible for rest, nourishment, and gentle movement.

  • It’s ideal if you can treat this time as a retreat to make the most of this healing work. Consider clearing your day as best you can and schedule enjoyable and nourishing activities around your sessions.

  • The first step is to schedule a free 20-minute consultation to explore how an EMDR intensive may or may not be a fit. If we determine it is a good fit, we’ll discuss scheduling an intake and Intensive session(s).

  • Intensives are either held in-person in Portland, Oregon or virtually for those in the state or Oregon or California who are unable to make it to the office.

But you don’t have to live in Portland to participate in-person. You may consider visiting Portland and making it a personal retreat experience. If you’re coming from out-of-town I can provide a list of local hotels, restaurants and supportive activities . It’s a lovely city close to some beautiful nature spots.

  • If you’re unable to attend your Intensive, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss rescheduling. You may reschedule without a fee up to 30 days or more before your scheduled session. Rescheduling less than 30 days prior to your session may incur a $225 rescheduling fee.

If you need to cancel entirely, any deposit money already paid will be returned minus a $450 scheduling fee if the cancellation is made more than 30 days before your scheduled Intensive. Deposits are fully non-refundable if the cancellation is made less than 30 days of the scheduled Intensive.

  • Unfortunately, Intensives are not covered by insurance.

However, you may be able to receive partial reimbursement for the first hour using out-of-network benefits, if available through your insurance plan. Please contact your insurance provider to confirm these benefits and their process.
