You’re Overwhelmed, Over it and Ready for something different

You're considered “high-functioning”. You’re the one people lean on to solve their problems or keep the peace. You've been in talk therapy. You can name the patterns. Your know your triggers. But the impact of what’s happened still shows up in your body and relationships—you're ready for something deeper. And no one truly understands how much you’re struggling.

You understand your triggers, you can trace things back to childhood, you know why you react the way you do. But knowing hasn't stopped the panic attacks, the way your body tenses up, or the old patterns that keep showing up in your relationships.

You're not broken. You're just ready for an approach that works with your body, not just your mind.

I specialize in EMDR and somatic therapy—evidence-based approaches that help release trauma that's been living in your nervous system. This is for people who are self-aware, therapy-experienced, and ready to move beyond surface-level conversations into body-based healing.

"You're not too damaged. You're not doing it wrong. You're just ready for a different kind of healing—one that meets you where traditional therapy couldn't. Your body remembers what your mind is trying to process. Let's work with both.

And here's the thing: this work is deep, but it doesn't have to be heavy all the time. You can laugh while you heal. You can take detours. You can move at the pace your nervous system needs. There's structure here, but also spaciousness. You've been carrying the weight of the world—let's make room for some lightness too."

Hi, I’m CéShaun, a therapist based in Portland, Oregon providing therapy across California and Oregon.

I help Black and Brown people who are experiencing high levels of on-going stress, the impact of trauma, or anxiety begin to experience relief so that they can feel (re)grounded in a sense of self and genuine connection to others. Through the use of whole self (mind and body) approaches like mindfulness and EMDR along with a foundation in liberation-based mental health frameworks we’ll activate your own healing capacity.

Whether you’re a Black, Brown, Asian, Indigenous, multiracial/ethnic person of color or a parent - you’re in the right place.

You might be here because:

  • Talk therapy helped you understand your trauma, but it still feels stuck in your body

  • You're managing everything on the outside while struggling with anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, depression, or physical symptoms no one else sees

  • Past trauma is affecting your current relationships—even the healthy ones

  • You're a high-achiever dealing with stress, racial trauma, identity struggles, or life transitions that are all hitting at once

  • You've heard about EMDR but want to understand what it actually looks like

  • You need someone who will be direct, challenge you, and not just validate—you're ready to do the deeper work

  • No one seems to believe that you’re actually struggling

What makes this different:

This isn't weekly check-ins where you recount your week. This is focused, body-centered trauma work. I offer both weekly sessions and EMDR intensives for people who want to dive deep without waiting months for progress.

I believe in straight talk, cultural competence, and giving you actual tools—not just a place to vent. You deserve a therapist who gets the complexity of your identity, your ambition, and the fact that looking "fine" on the outside doesn't mean you're not suffering on the inside.

Does this sound familiar?

You’ve tried therapy before but it fell short in some way. Either you feel like you received all you could from talk therapy or you didn’t feel like you could show up fully in your identity.

Your work and personal life run at full speed. You work in a demanding work environment and identify as a high achiever. Many think you’ve got it all together but internally you feel frantic and stressed.

You want to break unhelpful family patterns and shift the story of your lineage for yourself and your relationships.

People-pleasing has been a survival tool. It’s seemed easier to focus on others. But you realize this is also creating resentment and irritability and preventing deeper connection with others.

You have insight and know a lot of the ‘why’s’ but you still feel stuck in the harmful things that have happened. You’re beginning to realize that your typical ways of coping aren’t working - and you can’t think or read your way out of this.

Race and your intersectional identities (ethnicity gender, sexual orientation, disability, neurodivergence, etc.) impact all aspects of your life and you’re looking for a space to show up in your fullness.

I can help with

01

Chronic Stress

When stress becomes constant our mind, body, and spirit can wear down. The unrelenting stress of oppression can have a weathering effect on people of color. In our work, we’ll practice techniques to lessen the impact of unrelenting stress.

02

Anxiety

Anxiety is a sense of dread and constant worry. Together we’ll gently introduce moments of calm and grounding to soothe your nervous system and begin to provide a sense of ease.

03

Trauma

The experience of ‘too much too fast’ can trigger the mind-body’s (brilliant) protection system. Over time, if not addressed we can continue to experience feeling numb, disconnected from self and others, agitated, or being on edge. EMDR uses our natural ability to heal so we can fully process and clear out what we no longer need and move forward with our lives.
